I began working with Omni Public as a press release writer for the Founder and President, Cesar Hernandez in 2018. Moving from short-form into long-form copywriting in the Public Relations field was a new experience, but I adapted quickly and excelled. I wrote all communications for Omni Public’s various clients, which included press releases, media pitches, the editing of articles in health and tech fields, as well as e-newsletters, contracts, and proposals. In addition to my writing responsibilities, I contracted as the firm’s Director of Operations where client account management, fee estimating, and project management were my focus. After successfully promoting Johnny Crowder’s company Cope Notes locally in Tampa, FL, we were having a hard time getting his story out nationally. Finding good angles or “hooks” for journalists is part of the art of writing pitches. It’s an enormous challenge to employ the economy of language, crafting a mini story that encompasses an entire brand’s soul and image—and it’s my favorite thing to do. Reaching out to journalists, a profession I respect so highly, is a gamble. Will they be interested? Will they bite? My hook grabbed the attention of Eoin McSweeney, writer for Financial Times, CNN International’s news desk, and World Bank freelancer. He created a beautiful piece for Cope Notes for the Voices of the Pandemic series.

There is no doubt that Daniel Badran’s company Minimise Global is revolutionizing the energy industry, but getting a client national recognition during growth is always a challenge for a PR firm. Utilizing my relationship with CNN World, I noted an opportunity to get his company’s story heard through a personal lens. Also a part of the Voices of the Pandemic series promoted worldwide, Daniel Badran’s incredible personality and drive to make the world a better place shines through.
