Within the Frame, but Outside the Box
Here at Spoiled Rotten Photography, when it comes to our franchisees, we have always used a collaborative system, which has been tested, proven, and easy to follow. Dare we say, it has been picture perfect? Puns aside, it’s a system that works! Our franchise owners always have access to our company founder and support team. We stay with our franchise owners. After all, they are family! And in 2019, we took a new approach to our current franchise model by investing time and resources into people who share our core values; in this case, the value of advocacy.
As we look toward establishing new franchises in cities across the country, we are utilizing our UPLIFT mission to serve the members of those communities that are less fortunate. Our UPLIFT photo sessions also serve as a training opportunity for potential SRP photographers and/or franchise owners. We encourage each of our franchise owners to align themselves with at least one charitable cause during the year, and in November, we headed to Jacksonville, Florida where we were accompanied by owners Elizabeth Bailey and Kara Kellner.
We set up our UPLIFT portrait sessions at the Salvation Army and focused on families living in transitional housing. We also spent a second day working with the children at the Salvation Army’s child development center and spent some quality time with our future Jacksonville photographers such as Kat Hodges, a Florida native and resident taking on the Jacksonville/Duval County region for SRP. This experience was incredible. We were able to capture families laughing and smiling together--images that they will certainly take with them on their next journey. The Jacksonville experience also opened our eyes to how we look at our franchise model. How are we advocating for ourselves as a company?
While we are always looking for that next SRP family member to join our franchise team, we are open to looking for those who share our values and work ethic. We are trying to look outside the box of typical franchise ownership and look to those who share our values and are eager to learn more about portraiture. By searching for and finding the right people who share our mission and values, we are investing in ourselves and effectively advocating for change within our company as we expand our reach within the region. Because of our Jacksonville success, we will continue to search for individuals who have the potential to propel the SRP business as they invest their time and energy into learning about photography, our process, and a future investment with SRP.
When we look back at the Salvation Army sessions, every member of our team came away feeling blessed to have helped those individuals and families create happy memories. Serving the communities in which we work is what it’s all about--not just getting that next franchise owner in the door.
